Ketchikan Excursions: Totems and Forests

Ketchikan is known as the Salmon Capital of the World and the Gateway to the Inside Passage. If you love history and want to get to know the Alaskan culture you can explore towering totem poles (and see how they are made) or stroll along historic Creek Street. If exploring the outdoors excites you, the Tongass National Forest offers great hiking and there is ziplining through the local Rainforest. Families with younger kids might enjoy a Lumberjack show that is put on in town.

Juneau Excursions: Whales and Glaciers

Next, let’s sail into Juneau, Alaska’s capital surrounded by mountains, glaciers, and pristine waterways. If you are coming to Alaska to see whales (and that is on all of our clients’ bucket lists), Juneau is the place to see them. When picking your whale watching excursion you will need to consider if you want a larger or smaller ship to see these beautiful creatures. We love the smaller boats that allow you to get closer and move easier to where the pods are. Many whale watching excursions will also include a stop at Mendenhall Glacier. This is one area where you can get close to a glacier and if you are up for it, do some hiking. If you have some extra time in town, we recommend walking around the capital city, and if it is open, visit the Capital.

Skagway Excursions: Gold rush, Sled Dogs, and the Yukon

Our journey concludes in Skagway, where gold rush history and rugged wilderness combine for an unforgettable experience. Ride the historic White Pass & Yukon Route Railway (or drive on the road that runs alongside it), explore museums and saloons from the gold rush era, or meet Alaskan huskies on a dog sled adventure. Hike trails with incredible mountain views or enjoy a leisurely walk along Broadway’s historic streets. Skagway is a perfect blend of history, adventure, and tranquility.
