2. Space: because each ship only carries an average of 156 guests, AmaWaterways is able to offer you more personal space in your stateroom. Depending on the type of room you and your advisor determine best suits your needs, your room space could range from 155-350 sq ft.
3. Small excursions: for each port stop there is one included excursion. This is often a walking tour of the town you are visiting. But there are other options as well and given that there are fewer passengers sailing and many passengers that enjoy independent exploration, the excursion groups are often smaller than those you will find on an ocean cruise.
4. Explore smaller off the beaten path towns: yes, you will visit the main cities as well, but because you are covering less ground and traveling at night, these river ships are able to stop at the smaller, less known gems that dot the river shores.
5. No waiting in lines to get on or off the ship: the ship is able to dock right along the shore making it very easy to debark and embark. There is no waiting for a shuttle boat to take you ashore. This also makes it very accessible for those with mobility concerns.
