Epic Universe: A Guide to All 5 Areas

Universal’s new theme park, Epic Universe will have 5 areas, including 4 “Portals” for guests to explore. These Portals invite guests to ultra immersive areas themed after Super Nintendo Games, How to Train Your Dragon’s Isle of Berk, Universal’s Famous Monsters, and the Wizarding World’s Ministry of Magic.

🌠 Celestial Park: The Cosmic Core

Welcome to the heart of Epic Universe. Celestial Park isn’t just the entrance – it is the hub that leads to the 4 Portals and a hotel. With lush gardens, sparkling fountains, and cosmic architecture, it’s a great jumping off point for your adventure.

But before you head through a Portal, make sure you check out 2 attractions right in this main area of the park:

  • Stardust Racers – A high-speed, dual-launch roller coaster that races through space-like terrain. (this ride does have a 48″ height requirement)
  • Constellation Carousel – Every theme park needs a carousel and this one takes you on a whimsical ride where celestial creatures spin beneath a glowing sky.

And if you are looking to eat in the heart of the park, there are 2 full service restaurants for you to choose from:

  • Atlantic Restaurant (Full Service) and Aquaria Bar – Dine beneath the sea in a stunning underwater-themed setting.
  • Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant (Full Service) and Tiger Bar – This restaurant features Pan-Asian cuisine in a star-filled courtyard under the glow of ethereal lanterns and a pair of colorful neon dragons.

A number of quick service, snacks, and beverage options are also available. You can find a wide variety of food including pizza, bbq, bao buns, hot dogs, and ice cream. You’ll even find a cosmo inspired tiki bar and many out of this world drinks!

This hub is large, and there is a lot going on. You’ll have a chance to visit it all because every land branches off from here, making Celestial Park your gateway to the universe.

🍄 Super Nintendo World: Game On!

No matter when you started playing Super Mario, the kid (and adult) in you will love this area in Epic Universe. Enter the Mushroom Kingdom and beyond in this vibrant, interactive land that brings Nintendo’s most beloved franchises to life. This area is split into two sections—Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country, bringing favorites from both the Japan and Hollywood Universal Studios parks.

  • Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge – Like its sister rides in Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Hollywood, this is an AR racing ride inside Bowser’s Castle. (40″ height requirement, 48″ to ride alone)
  • Yoshi’s Adventure – You’ll get a tour of the Mushroom Kingdom on this ride while searching for glowing eggs (34″ height requirement, 48″ to ride alone)
  • Donkey Kong’s Mine-Cart Madness – We won’t spoil anything about this ride, and only say that it’s a high-energy coaster through Donkey Kong’s jungle. (40″ height requirement, 48″ to ride alone)

If all this playing makes you hungry, stop into Toadstool Cafe and enjoy mushroom-themed meals with a side of fun, or grab a snack and drink at The Bubbly Barrel, Yoshi’s Snack Island, or Turbo Boost Treats.

Bonus: You can purchase a Power-Up Band to interact with the world around you, from hidden blocks to mini-games.

🐉 Isle of Berk: Soar with Dragons

Straight out of How to Train Your Dragon, this land captures the wild spirit of Vikings and their dragon companions. The cliffs of Berk are alive with flame, flight, and fun.

  • Hiccup’s Wing Gliders – Glide like a dragon in this family friendly coaster all over the Isle of Berk. (40″ height requirement, 48″ to ride alone)
  • Fyre Drill – Can you outscore another viking team in this water based, interactive attraction that’s sure to cool you off?
  • Dragon Racer’s Rally – A spinning ride that mimics the thrill of dragon racing. (48″ height requirement)
  • Viking Training Camp – Young vikings love this immensely themed playground.
  • The Untrainable Dragon – This show has a very fun surprise that we won’t give away. All we’ll say is “look up 😉”

Satisfy your Viking level hunger at Mead Hall or Spit Fyre Grill with hearty meals and themed decor, or grab a snack at Hooligan’s Grog and Gruel

It’s an area built for both epic action and playful exploration.

🧛 Dark Universe: Monsters Awaken

If you dare, journey into the shadowy realm of Universal’s classic monsters. This gothic, eerie area of Epic Universe is a modern twist on legends like Frankenstein and Dracula.

  • Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment – This ride is not for the feint of heart which is a major dark ride featuring iconic monsters in a terrifying new story. (48″ height requirement)
  • Curse of the Werewolf – Spin and speed on a thrilling spinning coaster through the home of werewolves. (40″ height requirement)
  • Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience – You may have heard of being made up into a princess or pirate, but here you can transform into a monster yourself.
  • Das Stakehaus – A vampire-run restaurant with surprisingly good taste.

The dark themes don’t stop with the experiences. You’ll want to make sure to check out the quick service dining restaurants of Das Stakehaus (run by vampires), Burning Blade Tavern (make sure to watch the windmill after night falls), and De Lacey s Cottage.

Perfect for horror fans and thrill seekers alike, Dark Universe blends storytelling with scares in a way only Universal can.

✨ The Wizarding World – Ministry of Magic

Last, but not least, is the 3rd themed area for the Wizarding World – The Ministry of Magic. Wizards and witches, prepare to explore a whole new corner of the magical world. This land combines the 1920s Paris setting from Fantastic Beasts with the British Ministry of Magic from the Harry Potter films.

  • Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry – Delores Umbridge stands trial today and it won’t go smoothly. Board a magical lift in the Ministry of Magic and join Harry, Ron, and Hermione to stop her. (40″ height requirement)
  • Le Cirque Arcanus – A dark wizarding circus performance venue where you can see many fantastic beasts. Make sure to take some time seeing the sideshow acts on your way to the main stage.

Café L’air De La Sirène in the streets of Paris allows you to dine inside or out on delicious french cuisine. Dark wizards will want to visit Le Gobelet Noir (to avoid the eyes of the Ministry) if they want to grab a quick bite.

Beyond these new additions to the Wizarding World, all witches, wizards, and muggles can get their fill of Butterbeer and use their wands to practice casting spells all over the area.

Whether you’re a lifelong Potter fan or new to the Wizarding World, this area will be nothing short of enchanting.
